The Golden Gate is doubtlessly the icon of San Francisco. Opened in 1937, this suspension bridge spans for 2km over the Golden Gate Strait, 67 meter above the sea. It has resisted major earthquakes.
A ride on the cable cars is also a must among tourists. It's really fun to go up and downhill hanging on the outside of the car.
San Francisco offers sunsets on the Pacific Ocean. On the rocks, you can see birds and seals.
Transamerica Building, with its peculiar pyramidal shape, is another landmark of the city. It's 260m high, 65 of which above the highest floor. It is the headquarters of Transamerica Corporation, a financial group.
Victorian houses have been used as setting for many movies and TV series. They are really enchanting.
A view from Telegraph Hill.
Fisherman's Wharf is one of the old port areas transformed into a shopping and restaurant area.

Pier 39 also offers food and shopping in a very nice waterfront setting.

At Lombard Street there is a winding section of the road that runs for only a block, slowing down cars on this steep road, but this is one of the unique things that San Francisco is so famous for.
