Standing magnificently on the top of a hill, with the rivers Eresma and Clamores at its foot, the ancient city of Segovia is one my favourites places in Spain. It was nominated Wold Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985. The city is still surrounded by medieval walls.
The Alcázar is a castle and fortress from the Middle Ages. The enchanting towers remind me of fairy-tale castles. Part of it was destroyed by fire in 1862 and later restored.
Queen Isabel of Castile was crownded here in 1474. She is depicted in this window that decorates one of the castle's rooms.

The Alcázar hosts a military museum nowadays.

Segovia's cathedral is from the 16th century and sits on the highest point of the city. The façade is finely decorated. Inside, the cathedral is impressive for its high ceiling, 23 chapels and a fine organ that is still in use. The museum houses a sacred art collection.

The impressive roman aqueduct is over 2000 years old, having resisted wars and natural disasters, and until recently it delivered water to the city from a reservoir 14km away. It was constructed of rocks without the use of any cement or mortar. At the Plaza del Azoguejo, it reaches a height of 28m and spans fpr around 800m.
