Cascais and Estoril
| Cascais and Estoril are north of Lisbon, about 1/2h by train from Cais do Sodré station. Cascais is a beach town, full of hotels and beautiful summer houses, many of which are decorated with the traditional azulejos or painted tiles. I was there in October, so it was very quiet. |  |

The beaches are clean, but the sand is a bit rough. The best beaches in Portugal are said to be in the Algarve. |
| Estoril's casino was our chance to make a fortune, but no luck. Anyway, it was a nice way to finish our day. |  |
