Flying to Regina, in, offers a view of the endless flat - the Prairie - of the province of Saskatchewan, covered with wheat plantations (they produce over 50% of the wheat grown in Canada). The tongue-twisting name of the province comes from the word kisiskatchewan, which means "the river that flows swiftly" in Cree language.
Regina is a sunny green city, full of gardens for the pleasure of its small population - around 200000 inhabitants.

Wascana Centre is the main park of the city and its lake is the house of many birds, like geese.

The Legislative Building is located on the shore of Wascana lake. It was built in Renaissance style early in the 19th century, when Saskatchewan became a province and Regina was chosen for its capital.
Since 1885, Regina is the home of The Royal Canadian Mounted Police Training Academy. Don't expect to see them in their famous red uniform, which is only used in ceremonies. A free guided tour is offered and in the museum we can learn more about the history of this famous corporation.
I stayed at Turgeon International Hostel. It is the only hostel I ever been at in Canada and is located in a very quiet area within easy access to the city attractions.
