Ottawa is Canada's capital, located on the border of Ontario and Québec. The Canadian flag trembles above the National War Memorial, erected in the honor of soldiers killed in World War I.

It was mostly rainy when I was there, so the images are dull.

The Parliament Buildings are certainly the city's main landmark. They were built in the 18th century and rebuilt after a fire in early 1900s. The gothic style was clearly inspired by the British Parliament - there is even a version of Big Ben!
The Senate and the House of Commons are the two houses. Visitors can join free guided tours and see many of the beautifully decorated halls, containing paintings, statues and wood engravings.

Ottawa has many museums and art galleries. It also houses the Royal Canadian Mint.

Ottawa River separates Ottawa from its sister city Hull. The cone-shaped ceiling belongs to the Library of Parliament.

The Rideau Canal is 202km long and connects Ottawa River to Lake Ontario. Built to provide an alternative supply route to Kingston during a time when the USA had tried to conquer Canada, it was completed in 1832.
