O cometa McNaught C/2009 R1 foi descoberto ano passado pelo astrônomo australiano Robert McNaught. Em junho, enquanto se aproximava do sol e ficava mais brilhante, ele podia ser visto a olho nu. A foto abaixo é de Michael Jäger, em seu site Comet Pieces.
Cometa McNaught C/2009 R1 was discovered last year by the Australian astronomer Robert McNaught. Last June, while approaching sun and becoming brighter, it could be seen with naked eye. The photo below is by Michael Jäger, in his site Comet Pieces.
