Quando o cometa Halley apareceu em 1910, muita gente temia o fim do mundo. Este medo foi alimentado, além das superstições, pela notícia de que a Terra iria passar pelo rabo do cometa, que contém gases tóxicos. When Halley comet appeared in 1910, many people feared the end of the world. This fear was nurtured, besides superstition, by the news that the Earth would pass by the comet's tail, which contains toxic gases. The world did not end and the Halley returned in 1986, but farther and without the same intensity - it was not visible to naked eye.
