Este é o navio-escola da Marinha Mexicana, o ARM Cuauhtémoc, um dos nove belos veleiros que estiveram no Rio em fevereiro deste ano, para o início da regata Velas Sudamerica 2010. Esta regata está sendo organizada pelos governos da Argentina e Chile, que junto com o México comemoram este ano 200 anos de independênica. Os veleiros já estão no Chile e seguem agora pela costa oeste da América até o Canal do Panamá, para terminar a regata no México em Junho. Saiba mais em Velas Sudamerica 2010. O nome do navio é uma homenagem ao último imperador asteca, Cuauhtémoc, executado em 1525 a mando do conquistador espanhol Hernén Cortés.
This is the training vessel of the Mexican Navy, the ARM Cuauhtémoc, one of the nine beautiful sailing ships that were in Rio in February this year for the beginning of the Velas Sudamerica 2010 regatta. This regatta is organized by the governments of Argentina and Chile, which, together with Mexico, are celebrating 200 years of independence this year. The ships are already in Chile and will proceed along the west coast of America up to the Panama Canal, to finish the regatta in Mexico in June. Learn more at Sails South America 2010. The name of the ship is a homage to the last aztec ruler, Cuauhtémoc, executed in 1525 by order of the Spanish conqueror Hernén Cortés.
