O ônibus espacial Atlantis realizou no mês passado sua última missão, levando e trazendo astronautas para a Estação Espacial Internacional. Atlantis foi o quarto dos cinco ônibus espaciais da NASA e sua primeira viagem foi em 1985. Os dois outros remanescentes, Discovery e Endeavour, farão suas últimas viagens ainda este ano, encerrando uma história de quase trinta anos de sucesso dos ônibus espaciais, mas marcada pela tragédia dos acidentes com a Challenger, em 1986, e a Columbia, em 2003.
Last month space shuttle Atlantis went in its last mission, taking and bringing astronauts to the International Space Station. Atlantis was the fourth of NASA's five space shuttles and its first flight was in 1985. The other two remaining shuttles, Discovery and Endeavour, will be doing their last flights this year, closing a history of almost 30 years of success of the space shuttles, though marked by the tragedy of the accidents of Challenger, in 1986, and Columbia, in 2003.
