A Capela Sistina é uma das principais obras de arte do Vaticano. Construída no final do século XV por ordem do Papa Sisto IV, suas paredes foram decoradas pelos principais pintores da época, como Ghirlandaio, Botticelli e Perugino. Posteriormente, o Papa Júlio II contratou Michelangelo para pintar o teto com cenas do Velho Testamento, um trabalho que foi realizado entre 1508 e 1512 e no qual a cena da criação do homem se destaca como uma das pinturas mais conhecidas do mundo e um dos marcos da obra deste grande artista renascentista. The Sistine Chapel is one of the main works of art of the Vatican. Built at the end of the 15th century under Pope Sistus IV, its walls were decorated by the main painters of the time, such as Ghirlandaio, Botticelli and Perugino. Later, Pope Julious II hired Michelangelo to paint the ceiling with scenes from the Old Testament, a work done between 1508 and 1512 and in which the scene of the creation of man stands out as one of the best known paintings in the world and one of the highlights of this great Renaissance artist's career.
