O exótico maleo é uma ave do tamanho de uma galinha que habita a ilha de Sulawesi, na Indonésia, país que concentra uma das maiores biodiversidades do mundo. O maleo enterra seus ovos, que são incubados pelo calor do solo vulcânico da ilha. Recentemente a ONG local Pelestari Alam Liar dan Satwa (PALS) adquiriu uma praia para torná-la habitat protegido privado desta ave ameaçada de extinção. The exotic maleo is a chicken-size bird that inhabits the island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia, a country that concentrates one of the largest biodiversities in the world. The maleo buries eggs in the sand, which are then incubated by the heat from the volcanic soil of the island. Recently the local NGO Pelestari Alam Liar dan Satwa (PALS) purchased a beach to turn it into a private protected habitat for this endangered bird.
