No dia 6 de julho de 1988, uma explosão seguida de incêndio transformou a plataforma Piper Alpha em um dos maiores disastres da história e o maior da indústria do petróleo, causando a morte de 167 pessoas. On July 6th, 1988, an explosion followed by fire transformed Piper Alpha oil platform in one of the worst disasters in history and the worst in the oil industry, causing the death of 167 people.
